Initially united in 1854 by the promise to abolish slavery, the Republican Party has always stood for freedom, prosperity, and equal opportunity for all citizens. Today in North Kingstown, we continue to stand strong in support of these important tenets, using them as guideposts in pursuit of policies and actions that benefit all residents.

OUR PURPOSE

The NKGOP is a party by the people and for the people. We appreciate the ingenuity and productivity of our citizens, affirm the infinite worth of all individuals, and seek the best possible quality of life for all. Specifically, our aim is to help elect and support strong Republican candidates that will represent our beliefs and pursue policies that continually lead to a better North Kingstown.

We support transparency, accountability and fairness in all areas of government, and believe that government is simply a steward of the resources which have been bestowed upon it by the people.

OUR PRIORITIES

Conservative Fiscal Policies

Our philosophy is that there is no such thing as “government money,” only taxpayer money. Revenues collected should be used only for well-defined, legitimate government functions, and should be carried out efficiently so that tax rates may be kept as low as possible.

Safety And Security

Residents deserve the highest possible quality of life in pursuit of their dreams. This means adequate investments in police, fire and other emergency services that are responsive, effective, and courteous.

Parental Rights

Parents have the fundamental right to direct the education and upbringing of their own children. Parental rights are fundamental to the family and a healthy culture. If no child is to be left behind, then no parent should be left out.

Academic Excellence For Our Students

All students deserve a high-quality education, not indoctrination. Our education system should prepare them for what’s next in their lives, whether that be college or a vocation – teaching proficiency in the basic subjects of phonics-based reading, written and oral communication, mathematics, sciences, history, founding documents, heritage of our nation, critical thinking skills, basic morals, and civics. We also want students to be set up for success with appropriate life skills, such as financial literacy.

Responsible Town Development

Town land, water and other resources are precious and limited, directly impacting quality of life. It is important that we manage them properly while also insuring the protection and balance of personal rights.
