DEI Has Infiltrated Our Schools. So, What’s Wrong with That?

DEI has infiltrated North Kingstown schools. A recent “Equity Audit,” conducted by an outside DEI-focused firm, found that North Kingstown is plagued by systemic racism and that school programs and policies must be altered to reverse this injustice. Because of this study, the School Committee will be installing a DEI officer and staff to lead this effort.

Some might say this is a good thing. After all, who could possibly be against Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion? And it sounds pretty innocuous right? But let’s dig into it a bit further.

It’s not what you think.

In a broad sense, equity is now being delivered as a euphemism for discrimination based on race, national origin, sex, or economic class with respect to employment, university admissions, and access to government benefits, programs, or services. In schools, it is the application of policies that favor certain students over others. As applied, “equity” is nothing more or less than a rebranding and reorientation of the racism in the “Jim Crow” era, the class hatred in Stalin’s “anti-kulak” policies, and the dogmatism of Mao’s “Cultural Revolution.”

Despite the push for equity by progressive Democrats, the ways to achieve this simply do not result in the intended outcomes the movement is hoping to achieve.

The Biden Administration is no stranger to illegal programs to advance “equity.” For example, President Biden and his congressional left-wing allies rendered certain farmers completely ineligible for COVID-19 related farm aid, based solely on the fact that they were white. The Administration was sued in order to stop this program which was subsequently rescinded by Congress. President Biden and his congressional allies also put certain American restaurant owners at the back of the line for COVID-19 related benefits – again, because they were white. They were sued and had to stop that practice as well.

Diversity: a ruse, worse than a fraud. The word itself is typically a positive thing. We want diverse perspectives, diverse backgrounds and all types of ideas to help our society improve in unity. However, in this “DEI” context, critical and “woke” Marxists interpret views through a lens they call structural determinism, which says that structural power determines one’s views and values. Thus, to qualify as “diverse,” you have to articulate your determined voice.

In reality, you are not “diverse” unless you give voice to the progressive DEI perspective – that is, you are not worthy unless you are in favor of woke politics. This is why Larry Elder was called “the black face of white supremacy” by the LA Times when he was running for Governor. He’s not “Diverse” because his point-of-view wasn’t woke.

This is the same reason why conservative-minded parents were prevented from participating on the North Kingstown School Department’s DEI Sub-Committee – even though they may have appeared to be diverse. At the time, the School Superintendent actually confirmed that this viewpoint discrimination had actually taken place – and was necessary to make sure DEI initiatives would move forward without dissenting voices.

Diversity is therefore a matter of your politics first and your appearance/identity second. This makes it a political office. When the underlying political theory is Marxist, it makes those officers and voices commissars. Diversity in DEI context is now the installation of commissars for Equity.

Inclusion is a justification for canceling conservative voices; censorship of ideas; and silencing specific people who do not support the DEI goal of promoting “equity,” the totalitarian enforcement of Socialism. Political officers have determined that they have the unique lens to determine what behavior and speech creates feelings of “exclusion.”

Some universities, such as Harvard, apply something called a “personal quality” rating to applicants. Arguably subjective, the “personal quality” rating doesn’t have a set definition, to which we can only guess is what the admissions officers think the applicant’s personality traits are. It doesn’t matter that you’re a low-income Asian student who managed to succeed in numerous areas. The fact that you’re Asian immediately knocks you down on the list, and it puts other minorities, regardless of their circumstances, ahead of you. Simply because of your race. Admissions officers at Harvard have repeatedly described Asian Americans as “being quiet/shy, science/math oriented, and hard workers” in their applicant files. How can they know if they’re quiet when they have never spoken to them? You can’t. Comments like these are hasty (and racist) generalizations.

Exclusion must be understood structurally, like everything else in Marxism. To DEI proponents, only oppressed (“protected”) classes (sometimes referred to as “unrepresented minorities”) can be structurally excluded, and only DEI commissars and structurally aggrieved members of victim classes can ascertain what is “exclusionary” to them. For example, the school board in Milford, New Hampshire recently banned urinals in school bathrooms in the name of gender identity. Transgender students felt the urinals were somehow offensive.

At North Kingstown High School, there are reports of assaults happening in gender neutral bathrooms, yet students are not being disciplined because teachers are afraid to deal with students from “protected” groups. In other schoolrooms, the Pledge of Allegiance is ignored because teachers don’t want to deal with certain students who object to it.

In this new progressive worldview, ideas that “harm” “protected classes” must be repressed to promote “Inclusion” (Repressive Tolerance, creating tolerance by repressing opposition to Marxism). This can include the mere presence of “problematic” individuals, necessitating political purges. You might have heard about the conservative judge who was invited to speak at Stanford Law School but was incessantly heckled by a group of progressive students ALONG WITH the school’s associate dean of DEI. Their intent was to cancel him. The police were called, and he had to be escorted from campus for his safety.

DEI is actually Communism for the 21st century. Equity is the goal. Diversity and Inclusion are the means. Proponents enforce a new form of Socialism (“Equity”) by appointing themselves (“Diversity”) and purging dissent and dissenters (“Inclusion”).

“Belonging” takes Inclusion a step further by demanding positive affirmation for “Diverse” (political) members of “protected” classes. Please clap. Don’t stop clapping. Whoever stops clapping first is not promoting “Belonging” and may be “problematic,” requiring purging. In some schools, teachers force students to stand for the rainbow Pride flag (and even BLM flag) instead of the American flag.

DEI isn’t just a fraud, and it’s definitely a fraud, it’s also a racket, being seemingly installed by racketeering and extortion. Consider the firm hired by the North Kingstown School Committee. The cost of the “audit” was over $50,000, yet the report they delivered was essentially a cut-and-paste from reports they had delivered to other school boards. That is, the conclusions and recommendations were essentially identical. It makes you wonder if the end result was predetermined. Why did we need to pay $50,000 for a cut-and-paste report?

DEI results are predictable. Here are some of the outcomes perpetrated by the DEI cult:

Recently, a progressive teacher at a public school in California, feeling empowered by DEI policies, started implementing what she called “Communist Lunches.” That is, she confiscates everyone’s lunch at the beginning of the day and then redistributes all the items “equitably” at lunch time – allowing her BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) students to get first choice from all of the items. When some of the students complained, she admonished them by stating she was simply making up for 200 years of oppression.

Pornographic books, drag queen story hours, and bizarre sex education rituals are being pushed on kids as young as six under the guise of gay and transgender rights. This is happening within North Kingstown schools and in our town library. And the admin folks within the school and library are defending this vigorously. School curriculums are being overhauled to install false views of our history simply to advance this political agenda. For example, there’s a lesson plan that recommends middle school students (ages 10-14) should go on a field trip to the drug store to look for condoms. The lesson continues at school with boys and girls working together to explore how condoms work.

Some parents might also be interested to note that North Kingstown high school students are no longer able to see their class rank – often a statistic important for college applications — without jumping through a series of ridiculous logistical hoops. Apparently, the school feels class rank unnecessarily promotes meritocracy and would prefer to hide this info from students. To progressives, merit is no longer a requirement for placement or advancement.

So, what is it that the NKGOP believes? We see an important difference between Equality And Equity.

Equality means everyone is treated the same regardless of identity, race, or background. There is no discrimination. Merit and hard work are to be rewarded. Plain and simple, people are judged by the content of their character.

The goal of equality: Give everyone an equal opportunity for success. Everyone! Some people should be helped, but not by tearing down others.

An example: Those applying to a school would be accepted by their qualifications only. Using identifiers like race, gender, ethnicity, etc. for decision-making would be examples of discrimination and should be avoided. The more qualified individual will win and the other would lose. I don’t know about you, but I want my surgeon and airline pilot to be the best qualified for the job. Not the most diverse.

The bottom line is this: DEI is problematic. Creating identical outcomes for people requires artificially helping demographics deemed worthy by DEI practitioners. Although this is advertised as moral (and is why social justice initiatives promote equity), helping specific demographics means hurting and discriminating against others. That’s just not right.
